Screening & Safety
Your family's safety is our highest priority. Every worker who enters your home has been through a rigorous screening process designed to give you real peace of mind.

Our Screening Process
Seven layers of verification before a worker is matched with your family.
Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
Every worker must provide a current police clearance that includes a vulnerable sector search. This is renewed on a schedule we set and track.
Child Intervention Record Check
We verify that workers have no history that would raise concerns through Alberta's child intervention system. This check is mandatory for anyone working with children and youth.
First Aid / CPR Certification
Workers hold current First Aid and CPR credentials. We verify certificates and ensure they remain up to date.
Reference Checks
We contact multiple professional and personal references for every candidate. We ask specific questions about reliability, temperament, and experience with vulnerable populations.
In-Depth Interview
Candidates complete a structured interview that assesses their experience, communication style, problem-solving, and genuine motivation for this work.
Ongoing Training
We provide orientation and encourage continuing education around disability awareness, behavioural support, and emergency response. Workers are expected to grow in their roles.
Insured
Respite Edmonton carries insurance for the protection of families and workers. We take responsibility seriously.
Privacy & Confidentiality
We treat your family's information with the utmost care. Personal details are shared only with the matched worker on a need-to-know basis. We follow privacy principles aligned with Alberta's PIPA legislation and will never share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.
