Terms of Service

Last updated: June 16, 2026

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using the services of Respite Edmonton ("we," "us," or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services. These terms apply to all families, caregivers, respite workers, and visitors who interact with our website or services.

2. Services Description

Respite Edmonton provides respite care services for families of children with disabilities (through the FSCD program) and adults with developmental disabilities (through PDD and family-managed supports). We screen, match, and coordinate respite workers but do not directly employ all workers in all arrangements. Specific terms of service delivery are confirmed during your free assessment.

3. Eligibility and Assessments

All families must complete an intake and assessment before services begin. This helps us understand your needs, match you with appropriate workers, and confirm that we can safely and effectively support your family. We reserve the right to decline service if we cannot meet your needs safely or appropriately.

4. Funding and Payment

Families with approved FSCD or PDD funding may be able to use their funding for respite services. Respite Edmonton does not currently offer direct billing to FSCD or PDD. Families are responsible for confirming coverage, reimbursement requirements, and approval with their caseworker. Private pay is also accepted. Your exact rate is confirmed at your free assessment.

5. Cancellations

Cancellations made at least 24 hours before a scheduled visit are free of charge. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may be charged at the discretion of Respite Edmonton. If a worker cancels, we will prioritize rematching you with another screened worker at no charge.

6. Limitation of Liability

Respite Edmonton exercises reasonable care in screening workers and matching them with families. However, we are not liable for unforeseen incidents that occur during care, except where caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct. Families are encouraged to maintain appropriate insurance coverage.

7. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Alberta.
